Wipro told AIM that it established its generative AI practice over two years ago. The company said that it is engaged with several leading companies across a wide variety of industries to develop centres of excellence (CoE) by leveraging their consulting expertise and their foundational research knowledge through academic partnerships. Recently, it also partnered with Google Cloud to advance enterprise adoption of generative AI.

Wipro’s CTO Subha Tatavarti told AIM that the company has developed its own fine-tuned LLMs, which set them apart. “This allows us to leverage the rapid advancements made in foundation LLMs while focusing our efforts on refining our models to remain versatile and future-proof,” she added.

Further, she said that this unique approach allows them to develop intellectual property (IP) that is not only robust and adaptable but also applicable across multiple domains, offering unparalleled value to their clients and stakeholders.

Meanwhile, Infosys claimed to have leveraged its generative AI solution, called Infosys Topaz and was able to deliver superior off-store consumer experience with more than 95% accuracy for one of its food and beverage customers. Infosys Topaz is an AI-focused suite with 12,000 AI use cases, 150+ pre-trained AI models, and more than 10 AI platforms that can be deployed across multiple industries. Recently, the company has also partnered with Google Cloud to unleash generative AI offerings, alongside free generative AI certification programmes.

Infosys chief Salil Parekh stated that the company’s operating margin for the entire year stood at 21%, and believes that generative AI will create more opportunities. Interestingly, back in 2015, when AI was not a hot topic, Infosys, along with Elon Musk, AWS, and others donated $1 billion to OpenAI

Recently, Infosys co-founder Nandan Nilekani, announced to donate $38.5 million (INR 315 crores) to IIT Bombay to push for AI advancements.

Tech Mahindra claims to have been working on generative AI long before OpenAI released ChatGPT. The company had developed the Storicool platform, an auto content creation tool, which was beyond its years, as per its chief CP Gurnani. “Since then, we have launched a suite of AI offerings for enterprises to help them in their digital acceleration journeys,” he added.

TCS, however, is still catching up with the generative AI race.

Besides its partnership with Google Cloud’s generative AI services, the company has not yet announced anything concrete. However, it said that it is working with customers in multiple industries and exploring how generative AI can be used to deliver value in their specific business contexts.

TCS claimed to have over 50,000 associates trained in AI. Within a year, it plans to earn 40,000 skill badges on Google Cloud Generative AI to support anticipated demand for its new offering.

HCL Tech, on the other hand, has partnered with Microsoft to leverage its Azure OpenAI Service, alongside the setting up of Microsoft Cloud Generative AI Center of Excellence (GenAI CoE) focused on developing industry-specific solutions.

LTIMindtree has launched a new generative AI platform called Canvas.ai. This platform will help companies build, manage, and utilise generative AI solutions responsibly, offering up to a 50% time reduction for cloud migration and app modernisation programs.

A recent study by Unearth Insights estimates that the tech services industry would be investing close to $50-100 million by FY25 in generative AI solutions for sales, support, and enabling functions to transform employee experience and roles.

Further, it said that these solutions would eventually be taken to clients with RoI metrics creating additional revenue potential of $2-3 billion for the Indian IT, along with technology enablers like SAP, Oracle, Salesforce, Zoho and others, over the next four to five years.
