Hi there! Your AI Human, Amit Raja Naik, is here with insights on why tech leaders are sceptical of Kubernetes—a tool once hailed as the gold standard for container orchestration. Let’s understand why some companies are moving away from this once-essential platform for the cloud.

Kubernetes rose to fame for managing scalable, cloud-based microservices, but AI/ML workloads have exposed its limitations. Gitpod, for instance, recently ditched it for its in-house tool, Flex, citing challenges like complexity, resource inefficiency, and a lack of fit for unpredictable development environments. “Managing Kubernetes at scale is complex,” noted Gitpod’s co-founder in a candid blog post.

Many other companies are following suit. ThreeKit’s Ben Houston moved to Google Cloud Run for its cost efficiency and simplicity, leaving Kubernetes due to its high DevOps overhead and sluggish autoscaling. A Hacker News developer summed it up: “Kubernetes is glorious when used appropriately, but its complexity often outweighs its benefits.

Despite the setbacks, Kubernetes isn’t fading away. Experts like Murli Thirumale from Pure Storage argue it’s still indispensable for application workloads, particularly in dynamic AI environments. Tools like Kubernetes 1.31 are, in fact, being tailored to address AI-specific needs.

The verdict? While Kubernetes remains a powerful tool for application workloads, companies are rethinking its role in development environments.

Chasing TOPS

The AI PC race is heating up, with AMD, Intel, and Qualcomm battling it out over specs. AMD’s 50 TOPS Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 370 promises top-notch performance, but critics say these numbers rarely deliver real-world results.

While Microsoft and HP tout AI PCs as the future, many people find their current features—like image generation and video blur—underwhelming. According to Intel, 44% dismiss them as gimmicks.

The inevitable leap? Enterprises, however, see AI PCs as a secure, local alternative to the cloud. With Windows 10 support ending soon, the market is set to explode, reaching $231 billion by 2030. But the big question lingers: Are AI PCs a revolution or just chasing flashy numbers? Read to find out

Next Stop: AI with redBus

redBus, India’s leading online bus ticketing platform, has introduced an AI copilot embedded within its redPro platform, designed to optimise operations for bus operators across the country. The AI tool provides real-time, data-driven insights in multiple Indian languages, supporting operators with route optimisation, inventory management, and revenue growth through historical data analysis.

redBus has also enhanced customer interactions by integrating generative AI by experimenting with different models from OpenAI and Anthropic in India and Malaysia to ensure region-specific effectiveness.

The outcome? redBus claimed that this integration has improved customer satisfaction by 40% and streamlined call centre operations, reducing average call times from nine minutes to just three. Read more here.
