In this edition of Sector 6, your curious AI Human, Amit Raja Naik, dives into how Hume AI, leveraging Anthropic’s Computer Use, is pushing boundaries in AI-human interaction and turning voice commands into powerful tools for automation and control.

Anthropic’s Computer Use just got smarter. Thanks to Hume AI’s Empathetic Voice Interface (EVI) 2, users can now control their computers using voice commands. In a live demo, Hume AI also showed the system playing chess through a browser — no keyboard, just voice.

“With EVI 2, we’ve created the only voice-to-voice model interoperable with any LLM and available today as an API,” shared Hume AI.

This leap forward could change how we interact with AI systems, replacing clunky chat interfaces with effortless voice control. “The chat interface has been a relic of human-to-human communication,” Paras Chopra, founder of Turing’s Dream, said in a candid interaction with AIM

But the race is heating up. Competitors like Microsoft’s Copilot Vision and upcoming OpenAI’s Operator are making strides in the space. For now, Anthropic has the edge, and with innovations like this, they’re not just leading — they’re rewriting how we work with machines.

Imagine Meta Without Llama

Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s Llama ecosystem has not only redefined Meta but also reshaped the AI landscape in 2024, with nearly 350 million downloads, alongside other innovations like Movie Gen and Spirit LM

At the heart of it all is Zuckerberg’s vision: a world where AI agents are as indispensable as email. From Llama 3.2’s on-device breakthroughs to the anticipation of Llama 4, Meta’s open source-first approach is challenging the norms set by closed ecosystems like OpenAI’s GPT series and Google’s Gemini.

Can Meta’s decentralised AI truly democratise innovation for creators and businesses worldwide? Uncover the full story here.

The AI Scientist

AI is no longer just a passive observer in scientific research – it is evolving into an active collaborator, reshaping how discoveries are made. Stanford’s ‘Virtual Lab’ framework exemplifies this shift, showcasing AI-human synergy in designing nanobodies for SARS-CoV-2.

Unlike traditional systems, this multi-agent AI architecture mimics interdisciplinary teams, with agents taking on roles like principal investigator and scientific critic. They propose ideas, critique findings, and refine solutions in a collaborative workflow.

But the story doesn’t end here. How far can such frameworks push the boundaries of scientific innovation? Dive deeper into the possibilities here.

AI Regulation Talks in India Are Useless Right Now

India’s AI regulation debates are heating up, but are they premature? With AI still at a nascent stage across much of the country, experts argue that focusing on policy over progress may hinder innovation.

While urban India is witnessing advancements, rural areas remain underserved due to challenges like limited internet access and low digital literacy. Voices like Wadhwani AI’s Shekar Sivasubramanian and InMobi’s Subi Chaturvedi stress the need for a grassroots approach, prioritising adoption over regulation. Are we stifling AI’s potential before it even takes root? Dive into the full story here.
