At a time when Twitter and Reddit have restricted the free scraping of data for LLM training, Zuck seems to be building the platform from the ground up to build the database. However, there’s still uncertainty about how he plans to use the platform data.
Meanwhile, Meta has been all open-source, which democratised the large language models, helping researchers advance their work in this subfield of AI. According to the research paper ‘LLaMA: Open and Efficient Foundation Language Models’, the LLM was trained on CommonCrawl, GitHub, Wikipedia, and books. The open-source model supposedly gave Meta a moat over the others, revealed some internal documents of Google.
In a recent podcast with Lex Fridman, Zuckerberg said, “The stage we are in right now, the equities balance strongly in my view towards doing this more openly.”
Though there’s so much discussion around Meta open source, there is a possibility that Meta might train its new LLM models on Facebook and Instagram data and build a close source LLM.

Wolfram’s New LLM Book
Wolfram Notebook is going to be super powerful. In the new 13.3 update, Wolfram language has integrated LLM in Notebook, bolstering the capability of newly-launched Chat Notebook. They have also integrated an AI model into the Wolfram Cloud.
With the latest updates, developers now have an innovative method to interact with their data. This approach integrates Stephen Wolfram's concept of natural language programming with the powerful symbolic programming of the Wolfram language, resulting in a formidable combination. Moreover, by leveraging the Wolfram language API, this capability can be seamlessly integrated into larger systems, providing incredible computational power through a user-friendly natural language interface.

Midjourney v5.2: A Whole New Platform
Midjourney v5.2 new features have amazed the users. The much-discussed Zoom Out allows users to expand images by multiple times without disturbing the aspect ratio and resolution. The Make Square tool allows for the easy transformation of non-square images into perfect squares. The Shorten command enhances text understanding, offering suggestions to condense prompts.
Variation Mode offers high or low visual variation for diverse or consistent outputs. The Stylize function produces artistic and visually stunning images with enhanced realism and flair. The new Pan feature extends images in specific directions, while the Remix mode allows for prompt changes, enabling unique and blended creations.

How Wolfram Cracked Protein Folding
Protein folding plays a crucial role in determining the structure of a protein and to know whether the folded structure will be able to perform its biological functions. DeepMind built the technology AlphaFold that could accurately predict 3D models of protein structures and is accelerating research in nearly every field of biology. DeepMind is not the only developer of the technology, Wolfram too is working on it.
In a remarkable achievement, Soutick Saha, a bioinformatics developer at Wolfram, has developed the Wolfram ProteinVisualisation paclet. This impressive tool enables the exploration of complex bio-molecular structures, and what makes it truly remarkable is that Saha accomplished this feat in mere five months. This accomplishment was made possible by harnessing the accessibility and computational prowess of the Wolfram language, showcasing its immense power in the field of bioinformatics.
