After two weeks of Vision bros punching, zooming, and randomly tapping the air, accounts of returns started doing the rounds in the online-ville. Disgruntled fans of the $3,500 gadget were quick to voice ‘discomfort’ as the reason for handing it back to Apple before the 14-day return period ended.
On-ground inspection, however, clarified that the ones returning the gadget (are mostly YouTubers who) never intended to keep the face computer to begin with. Also, the numbers aren't sky-high.
The Cupertino giant began designing the spatial computing headset about a decade ago. During the grand revelation at WWDC 2023, Apple vowed to change the way humans interacted with machines, and, to an extent, has kept that promise.
Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, who spent ‘quality time’ with the wearable device, pointed out that not everyone is bidding adieu to their Vision Pros. Some love it – including Gurman, who wrote a newsletter using the headset.
The debut version does come with certain limitations, like streaming Netflix and YouTube only through a web browser, and FaceTime (currently in beta) that needs improvement. Glitches persist, but the potential outweighs them by a mile.

A No-Laptop Future
“Apple’s Vision Pro can provide an immersive experience to users for one or two hours inside the home, but it is not designed for the workspace. That’s where Nimo Planet steps in,” Rohildev Nattukallingal, Nimo Planet’s chief, told AIM.
So far, the company has shipped its product to 15 firms, including KPMG Consulting. Nattukallingal anticipates a future without laptops. So, about 5-8 years down the line, if you have a no-laptop-work-in-AR job, you would be thanking Nimo Planet!

The AI Use-Case Hub
People+AI is an initiative born out of EkStep Foundation, co-founded by Nandan Nilekani, Rohini Nilekani, and Shankar Maruwada. The initiative’s chief, Tanuj Bhojwani, believes that in a decade, India will be the world's AI use-case capital thanks to its population, diversity, languages and the need for specialised AI tools in every field.
The lack of understanding of potential AI use-cases is a hurdle. Hence, People+AI is building a use case repository to create a structured library for AI use cases unique to India.

Called Rise with Protean, the platform has over 300 offerings that support many Indian sectors, including BFSI and ONDC. Bertram D’Souza, chief product & innovation officer, believes collaboration is the main challenge that tech leaders encounter when implementing API programs.
