While the tech world seems already fascinated by the recent version of DALL·E, it’s yet to be released for public use and is expected to arrive in December of this year. OpenAI is treading cautiously this time around to ensure responsible AI.
Unfortunately, there’s no safety plug installed in the new version of DALL·E as of now, enabling users to easily generate images containing blood, gore and nudity. Graphic pictures depicting extreme violence can pop up without prompting for the same. Furthermore, it is able to generate copyrighted artworks, characters, and accurate company logos.
While the new model will require fine-tuning and nuances to bring in safety features, the community responses to the model have been highly promising. It’s also the last chance for OpenAI to prove its capabilities in the text-to-image generation race before it’s too late.

Open-source is a Calculated Risk
Meta has been a pioneer in open-source, leading with contributions like PyTorch and React. With Llama 2, they continue their open-source stance, gaining adoption in generative AI chatbots and there are many takers too. Perplexity AI, LunaAI, Poe, and others have integrated Llama 2 into their chatbots. Besides, smaller companies have started leveraging Llama 2 with their proprietary data through platforms like DataBricks and Amazon SageMaker. Meanwhile, when it comes to the monetisation of AI, it’s a long haul and the company is far from achieving the goal.
Meanwhile, Llama 2's success will likely emulate PyTorch's impact, driving groundbreaking AI projects and inspiring the AI community. As Meta continues its open-source approach, it aims for inclusivity and shared knowledge to shape AI's future.
