Our signature roundup of the top AI news.   Let’s go! 🔦 Last Week In AI🔦 Welcome Your New Robo-Colleague Figure AI and OpenAI just dropped a bombshell that's become the apple of the eye for sci-fi fans.   We are talking about Figure 02, Figure AI’s latest humanoid robot that has been trained in partnership with OpenAI. Figure 02 is an upgraded version of Figure AI's previous Figure 01 humanoid robot.     It is in layman's terms a glimpse into the future where the line between humans and machines blur in exciting and unsettling ways.    Key Features and Capabilities   Advanced Design: Figure 02 has a sleek, ergonomic look that makes it stylish and helps in moving smoothly in human spaces. Enhanced Vision: With 6 AI-powered cameras, Figure 02 sees all around it, navigating complex environments with precision.  Superior Computational Power: Figure 02 demonstrates a 3x increase in computing power compared to Figure 01. This allows for better data processing and decision-making algorithms. Longer Battery Life: Figure 02 runs for 5 hours, making it perfect for extended tasks in various environments. Improved Dexterity: Its hands have 16 degrees of freedom, allowing it to handle objects with great flexibility and accuracy.   You can watch the Figure 02 humanoid robot in action here.   Practical Uses and Current Testing   Figure 02 is being tested at a BMW plant in the USA where it's learning to handle tasks like moving car parts and adapting to changing work conditions. Its ability to improve and adjust shows great promise for ongoing development.   Future Possibilities   Currently, Figure 02 is aimed at industrial use, but Figure AI hopes to expand its role. Future versions might help with household chores, entertainment, and everyday tasks at home.   While Figure 02 is not ready to star in the Avengers just yet, it is paving the way for a future where robots and humans coexist. As the line continues to blur, we're left wondering: what's next?    One thing's for sure – the future looks more "robo-tastic" than ever!  Here We Go Again! The doors at OpenAI are spinning faster than the cycles on an NVIDIA chip!   In a new series of resignations John Schulman, OpenAI co-founder and alignment guru, has decided to take his talents to rival Anthropic.   To add to OpenAI’s agony, Greg Brockman, another Co-founder, and president, is taking an extended leave, while their Chief Product Officer Peter Deng has also bid adieu after just a year at the organization.   However, it's not all bad news for OpenAI. Early reports on their new voice feature are overwhelmingly positive, potentially signaling a major leap forward in AI technology.   These big changes at OpenAI are like a shake-up in a major sports franchise. Some star players have left, and now everyone's wondering what will happen next.    Will OpenAI find new superstars?
