Can generative AI help in solving the attrition problems in Indian IT, or tech companies, globally? Read to find out. | | | |
Attrition has plagued the Indian IT and tech companies for a very long time – now at an average of 20% and flattening. With generative AI, experts believe this number can be reduced even further to create a culture of growth. In conversation with AIM, Chris Havrilla, the vice president of product strategy and the brain behind Oracle Grow, said that employees typically leave organisations because employers struggle to understand their skills, predict future needs, and fill the skill gaps. Employees, on the other hand, find it hard to adapt to changing business needs as they often aren’t aware of the growth opportunities due to a lack of transparency, she said, adding that generative AI is breaking barriers by providing access to knowledge, information and opportunities to all the employees within the organisation. Currently in a beta testing phase to select customers, Oracle plans to roll out generative AI features within Oracle Fusion Cloud Human Capital Management (HCM) and Grow (in collaboration with Cohere) in the coming months. Havrilla believes that giving employees access to a wide range of learning resources and opportunities to connect with others will help them develop the right skills and knowledge and advance in their careers. In turn, it will help organisations build a skilled and motivated workforce. Besides Oracle Cloud Fusion, SAP SuccessFactors, Zoho People, Workday, PeopleStrong, Ceridian Dayforce, and Darwinbox among others, are also actively experimenting and integrating generative AI features to reshape HR.

Thanks to generative AI, HR professionals and managers are now transitioning to a more advisory and mentoring role, and focussing on employee engagement and career development, alongside building a culture of growth and learning. “If you’re going to be an expert on anything, be an expert on human behaviour. Be an expert in helping your leaders build great teams,” said Havrilla.
