Cohere brought an updated user interface with a testing space where users can try out and check fine-tuned models. It also has a price calculator, giving users the ability to make informed choices about the cost of fine-tuning right from the start.
LangChain, which was struggling to justify its existence after the launch of the GPT Store at OpenAI’s DevDay, suddenly became abuzz with new announcements. They announced a new product called Dream that allows people to use an AI no-code tool to build fully functional web apps and components using natural language, similar to GPT Builder.
And while these frantic developments were underway in different companies, OpenAI announced Sam Altman’s return to the organisation. Now, all eyes are back on OpenAI, and the question is, will the competitors be able to maintain the leverage they gained against OpenAI over four days when the man was away, leaving the company briefly clueless about its future?

Is Q the AGI?
OpenAI’s latest model, Q-Star, named after a hypothetical heavy neutron star with an exotic state of matter, could be a breakthrough in the company’s search for artificial general intelligence (AGI). Currently, the model is capable of solving difficult maths questions, which were earlier beyond the capacity of the existing GPT models.
The model was built by Jakub Pachocki and Szymon Sidor, two top researchers at OpenAI, using Ilya Sutskever’s work. Q-Star, apparently, raised a major AI safety concern causing mayhem among the board members that led to the entire fiasco.

The Case against TCS
In a setback for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), the US Supreme Court has rejected the company’s appeal against a $140 million punitive damages order from a district court. The case, brought by Epic Systems Corp, alleged TCS's unauthorised access to Epic's portal to develop competing software.
The Supreme Court upheld the damages, citing deliberate actions by TCS, including disciplining a whistleblower and providing false information. TCS plans to set aside $125 million in its financial statements. The decision highlights the significance of respecting intellectual property rights, underscoring the severe consequences of unauthorised access and use of proprietary information.
