NVIDIA, better known as the graphics card manufacturer, dethroned Apple last week to become the world's most valuable company.
It is now worth $3.34 TRILLION.
For comparison, that's about the size of India's Annual GDP! 🤯
How, you ask? Let me explain.
NVIDIA's rise has been fueled by its dominance of the oil of the tech sector - the semiconductor chips.
They first came to attention due to their superior Gaming GPUs & Graphics Accelerators. Ever heard of GeForce?
Then, it was the GPUs for the crypto-mining mania that guzzled in compute like crazy. Remember the Bitcoin millionaires from the news?
And finally, ChatGPT & the rise of Artificial Intelligence ensured the top spot for NVIDIA's complete & utter dominance over its competitors like Intel & ARM.
While giants like Microsoft, Google, and Apple are putting in every ounce of their effort to create the next big AI model, it's hard to know who will eventually take away the prize.
However, the one company that's inevitably the winner in this fight for AI is the one that powers all their computational adventures, our very own - NVIDIA!
The "Taylor Swift of tech", NVIDIA's CEO Jensen Huang, has now become a tech celebrity in his own right, mobbed by adoring fans wherever he goes.
So, what's next for NVIDIA?
Its sales and profits have consistently outperformed analysts' expectations. Industry experts believe the company is just starting on its path to a $4 trillion market cap. Gulp. 😅
