This was revealed during Samsung's 'Galaxy Unpacked' event, when the mobile manufacturer announced the AI-enabled Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and the S24 Ultra, which has features like 'Circle to Search', 'Live Translate' and more. Although the newly introduced AI features are noteworthy, the most significant announcement pertains to incorporating Gemini on Samsung phones.    Announced in December last, Gemini, Google's most advanced AI model, will be available to use via Galaxy S24 phones. The series will feature the integrated Gemini Nano, an optimised model designed for on-device tasks. Moreover, Samsung is set to become the inaugural Google Cloud partner to implement Gemini Pro, Google's versatile AI model, and Imagen 2, an advanced text-to-image diffusion technology, using Vertex AI.  Samsung's applications like Notes, Voice Recorder, and Keyboard apps will integrate Gemini Pro for enhanced summarisation features. The phonemaker will also be among the first to try Gemini Ultra, the most powerful and expansive AI model designed for highly intricate tasks.  Through Gemini, Samsung smartphones can harness the advanced AI capabilities and infrastructure offered by Google Cloud. Read the full story here. AI-generated Texts not Detected  A cat-and-mouse game is on between generative AI text generators and generative AI text detectors. Since the launch of ChatGPT, many tools have come forward, claiming to detect AI plagiarism. However, their accuracy was always doubtful and many of them withdrew the service.  Experts explain that it is extremely difficult to detect AI-generated content as the models are frequently trained on datasets that don't completely cover the diversity and intricacy of human writing. They analyse text by recognizing patterns from these datasets, which can result in inaccuracies when dealing with texts that deviate from their training material. Read the full story here. SAP Heats Up Gen AI Space with Joule  SAP recently introduced Joule, a generative AI assistant, aiming to integrate responsible and reliable AI into its enterprise suite. Joule focuses on two types of models: generic learning at scale and a pilot program with selected companies for more specific learning. SAP claims to emphasise data privacy, limiting access to customer data and ensuring compliance with regulations like GDPR and India's DPDP Act.  Joule's applications include automating CRM processes, improving communication for sales representatives, and enhancing overall efficiency. Google faces a $5 billion lawsuit for allegedly tracking user data in incognito mode. Meanwhile, OpenAI quietly removed its ban on military use of its tech from its usage policy.  Critics argue the move undermines OpenAI's commitment to ethical AI use. The tech industry's shady practices emphasises the need for updated regulations and increased transparency to hold companies accountable for data privacy violations and ethical concerns in 2024.
